On my computer I usually only use ethernet because wireless doesn't show up for some reason, but yesterday I had updated a driver and my headset stopped working so i restored back to when the driver hadn't been updated and then I couldn't connect through ethernet. I looked at device manager at the Realtek PCIe GBE Family connecter and it said code 10. Iv'e downloaded the latest driver by putting it on a thumb drive and it didn't work. I pinged 127.0.0.0 and it game back with packets sent= 4 received=4 lost=0. Also the only wireless connections showing up are dial-up and VPN, so my computer has no way to connect to internet. Thanks for the help.
NEW----
I updated the driver again and there is now no yellow triangle next to it in device manage, but now is says the ethernet cable doesn't work.
There are no lights on in the ethernet port and i tested the cable on my laptop and it worked. When i pinged again i got sent=4 received=4 lost=0

Solution
ok, I am glad I can help, can you please mark my comment as a solution so if others encounter this issue they could search the form and see its solved

you ping your loopback address to test your nic hard and driver to make sure they are functional. after you reinstall the drivers ping 127.0.0.1, what is your pc modal number ? or is it custom built

It's custom built and when I pinged I got Packets: Sent=4, Received=4, Lost=0 (0%loss) and then some thing about approx round trip in milli-seconds and it was 0ms for everything

ok, go to Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections and right click then press disable then enable the Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection 2. might be a compatibility issue because the pc is custom built. if that does not work try going to Computer > Manage > Services and Applications > Services => find the bonjour service and disable it or go to run and type in msconfig then go to services and disable Shutdown mDNSResponder .exe or Id_String1.6844F930_1628_4223_B5CC_5BB94B879762

hmm, go to start run then type in msinfo32 then tell me your motherboards brand and model.
But its interesting that the Ethernet light is not coming on. try this plug out your computer and wait for around 15 mins then while the pc is still unplugged , hold the power button for 32 seconds exactly use a timer then plug it back in and power it on then try again that usually fix most of my hardware problems
