CPU problems with a game

When playing a game that isn't CPU intensive at all (Nba 2k14), I check my task manger and it says I'm using between 40-80%. Sometimes I get crashes and freezes, I assume that's 100%. I have an AMD a8 5600k with 4 GBs of RAM and this game is suppose to be optimized for dual core CPUs so this makes no since. I checked forums for this game and no one has this problem. any ideas?

I found a solution; I was playing at hall of fame difficulty, which is the hardest, and when I more it to all star , which is medium, it plays fine.
