Best 1150 Mobo (no OC, premium onboard audio)?

Hi there,

I'm trying to decide on a new 1150 motherboard (+/- $200 US). I was originally going to buy the MSI Intel Z87-G45, but I do not want to overclock, so this would be a waste.

Please advise what the best locked motherboard would be (with the below build). I would also really like premium onboard audio - this is particularly to play Rocksmith, which doesn't support USB sound cards properly and I want the lowest possible latency.

Other components:

Intel Core i7 4790 3.6GHz (still to buy)
Corsair Vengeance 16GB DDR3-1600 (still to buy)

Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO (owned)
Samsung SSD 840 EVO 250GB (owned)
Radeon HD 6870 (owned)
Corsair GS600 (owned)
Cooler Master HAF 912 Advanced (owned)

Purpose of the build:

Music recording
Gaming
Photo / video editing

Thanks,
Amy

hi there, since you dont wont to o/c, an H97 mobo will do just fine. since you need premium audio i really suggest you buy a dedicated audio card. it will give you a lot more options.you can have them both with way less than 200$

Motherboard: ASRock H97 PRO4 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($86.66 @ Newegg)
Sound Card: Asus Xonar DX 24-bit 192 KHz Sound Card ($79.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $166.65
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Hi, thanks for the advice!

With regards to the sound card, I already have a USB sound card (a PreSonus Audiobox), so won't buy another one.
I just want to ensure that the motherboard I buy has a great audio chipset so that I can play Rocksmith with minimal latency (the game doesn't properly support USB sound cards).

Can you tell me how I'll know whether a motherboard has good onboard audio?

The H97-Plus looks like a very good Board. The best budget Mb from Asus has got to be the Z87/Z97 A LGA 1150. The Z87 A is one of the more popilar Motherboards from Asus and is solid. I expect the Z97 A to be even better. The price is a bit higher than the H97-plus but worth it IMO.

ALC 1150 is the latest impementation of realtek audio. so any h97 mobo with such realtek version is the best you can find. the audio processing is still delt with the cpu so it isnt anywere near the quality dedicated audio cards can provide.
