Not sure if AMD Crossfire is working properly? First time with it.

So I recently got my 2nd graphics card to crossfire with. I plan on going with a 4k monitor soon so that was the main reason for the second card.

My system:

* AMD FX-8350
* Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z
* XFX R9 290X DD edition
* XFX R9 290X DD edition
* Corsair Vengeance Pro 2 x 4GB 1866
* Corsair HX 850W PSU
* NZXT H440 Case
* CM Hyper 212 EVO (switching to an AIO watercooler shortly)
* Windows 8.1 64-bit

Anyway, I plugged the 2nd card into the farther PCI Express slot so that there would be room in between the two cards. I uninstalled the old drivers and installed AMD's 14.6 Beta drivers. I was a little hesitant about only an 850W PSU but I think it should be okay as nothing is OC'd as of now.

I have Crossfire enabled in the CCC but when I open hardware monitor it only shows the one card. FurMark shows crossfire enabled but then lists GPU1 as the 290X and nothing for GPU2. Also only shows GPU1's temp during a test. Afterburner isn't giving me a drop down to set settings or view temps for the second card but it does list both cards in the settings. Windows Device manager lists both cards.

Finally, CCC shows both cards, but if I go to GPU overdrive it only shows info for the one GPU. The second one is all zeroed out for temp, fan speed, clock rate etc.

Am I missing something? These cards don't use a crossfire bridge. All the PSU cables are attached.

If you are in the farthest PCIe X16 slot, you are in the X4 lane slot. That's the slowest slot. Move the card back to one of the X8 lane slots. Ideally, you'd want the cards in the PCIe X16 -1 and PCIe X16 -2 slots. They will still get plenty of air.
