i have $20 left from my budget
should i either buy a cpu cooler or a thermal compound
specs are
x4 760k
hd 7770 ghz
4gb ram
1 tb storage
 
Solution
If you're not going to overclock, don't bother buying a heatsink or thermal paste. You're wasting money. Stock heatsinks come with paste on them and are more than adequate.

Neither. $20 won't get you adequate cooling and putting quality thermal compound on a stock heatsink isn't going to get you very far if you plan to overclock at all. Save your money until you can buy a $35-$50 heatsink for overclocking.
 


I agree. If you aren't going to overclock and you aren't looking for near silence for a HTPC then just use the stock one and put the $20 somewhere else.
