I have this rig and wanted to upgrade its graphics card to AMD Radeon R9 280x...

AMD FX-6100 @4.2 Ghz O.C.
4GB RAM (will upgrade it to 8GB dual channel)
Corsair GS700 PSU
ASUS M5A88-M Motherboard
Mid Tower Case

Okay so I want to ask can my PC run this R9 280X in PCIe 2.0(slow yes) ?

If yes which one of these should I buy?
1. Sapphire R9 280X Dual-X 3GB
2. ASUS R9 280X DirectCU II Top 3GB

The prices of both are nearly same with a difference of $10-20

You might be thinking why I am using this rig right now? while I have the Intel based rig that is way more powerful and better than this AMD.. Its because my current Intel Based rig is damaged as the processor is completely roasted because my cooler suddenly when in hell stopped working and I was in O.C. profile and thus it roasted and burned into hell.. So currently I am off to my older rig..

So just tell me which one of these graphics card should I choose?

EDIT: I was thinking that as I would not do so much intense hardcore gaming on ULTRA settings.. but I would do it to HIGH.. so I would be appreciating suggestions on GTX 760 also..

Neither of the R9 280s' will suffer any noticeable loss of performance in a PCI-E 2.0 slot, so don't worry about that.
Of the two, probably the Asus may be slightly quicker but either is a good card.

A GTX760 is a bit slower but Nvidia does have a few extra tricks like Shadowplay, PhysX (you'll need use the 650Ti as a dedicated PhysX card in conjunction with the GTX760 to run that without a heavy frame rate penalty though), better AA options and less heat output, usually meaning cooler, quieter operation.

Alternative option: Go for a GTX770 and pop that into the Intel rig when it's fixed, moving the 650Ti into the AMD system, or pop it into the X4 slot in the Intel build to use it as a PhysX card..
EDIT: Just checked, the AMD MB has only one PCI-E slot, you can't use the 650Ti for PhysX. :(

yeah I cannot use that 650 Ti as a PhysX card and also I am gonna sell this 650Ti so that I could buy the 760 or 280X ...
GTX760 would be slower in what terms? Means would I be able to play Watch_Dogs at High Settings and BF4 also at High(or similar custom in BF4) ?

The R9 290X would be $70 costly to me than the 760.. As I mentioned(maybe) I am not a Hardcore gamer.. and I would be happy if I get around 50 FPS in games like Watch_Dogs..

EDIT: and also I have Corsair GS700 PSU and would that be sufficient enough for the GTX 760?

Watch Dogs is very hard on the hardware, you'll need to lower settings to get a steady 50 FPS out of the AMD6100 build, even with the fast R9 280X card, that game is very dependant on a fast CPU.

For a non hardcore gamer (like me) who doesn't really want the VERY highest settings (like me) on a less than top of the pile rig (like me) either the GTX760 or R9 280 (note the missing 'X') would do the trick very nicely. Both offer the same performance, give or take a few FPS, and either would be a nice little upgrade over a GTX650 Ti as well.
Which one?
Your choice, I'd go for the R9 280 for its 3Gb memory but the GTX760 is likely to be quieter, a little cooler running and its drivers a lot more familiar so the transitions will be smoother.
Either card will run just fine off the GS700 PSU, it's not the best Corsair make by a long shot but then again it's not a system killer either.
