i need to overclock it to around 4.0gz my cooler is hyper evo 212. psu is 620 mobo m5a97 le r2.0 gpu hd 7770 so is that possible with my current build and where is a guide to do it

Solution

If prime95 ran with no faults for 2 hours, I'd start playing. That will also be a test. How were your temps?

Some boards need more 'work' than others to arrive at a stable OC. The M5A97 le isn't a great OC'er. Doesn't even have a heat sync on the VRMs.

My #2 machine is very similar to yours. PhIIX4 965BE @ 4.0 GHZ w/212 EVO, MSI 785GM-E65, R9-280, 750W PSU. I got it to 4GHZ with nothing more than the multi at 20 and the core volts at 1.4 I left everything else on auto in BIOS. It passed prime95 and Intel Burn Test.

Go here and scroll down to "overclocking tips": http://www.bjorn3d.com/2009/08/phenom-2-x4-965/

I'd hold off OC'ing both at the same time. If a crash or BSOD shows up, you won't know which was the culprit.
