Does it always happen after you have been playing for some time, or right from the start?

!. May be overheating due to dust accumulation, blow out dust.
2. Update graphic drivers

May need to open case to properly clean out dust. Youtube your model for a video tutorial, but beware voiding warranty.

no dude.....at first i had started and played ghost recon without lagging bt nw its gettin lagged in starting itself....and in bf3 it lags when i installed

!. re-install graphics drivers
2. make sure the laptop isn't overheating from dust accumulation
3. run a hard drive diagnostic (should be one available at HPs support site)
4. get latest version of directx

Is it only in games that the PC is sluggish and stalling?

Download realtemp http://www.techpowerup.com/realtemp/ and start it up and leave it running while you run this http://www.mersenne.org/download/ and to test GPU try this http://www.ocbase.com/index.php/download

Try to determine if you are overheating

Games put a huge load on CPU and GPU, so test both separately to see which one is overheating. OCCT will test both BTW. The GPU is suspect #1 though, so start here. Your PC may never get taxed like it does while gaming. Ordinary computing barely breaks a sweat.
