hello guys i have an amd fx 6300 paired with gtx 760 , i have a real terrible case , it almost has no air flow , my cpu maxes out and reaches 76C which is ALOT , my gpu stays at 80 due to gpu boost 2.0 and i have an acx cooling on it , i took the side panel off and the the temps went down by ALOT , would keeping it off hurt my components , i pointed a little fan towards it , i dont care about noise.

If it is something that needs to be done, it's completely fine to take the side panel of your case off. In fact, it is a recommended method by prominent tech YouTuber JayzTwoCents for keeping your PC cool in high temps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjx9SE3QdTk

However, you do have some things to watch out for. One is that this way will probably induct more dust into your PC, which can slow airflow even more and clog up your PC. Dust is NOT good for a PC, so if you decide to do this until you get a better case (which is recommended in the long run), you'll want to dust it frequently.

Also, you need to make sure no foreign material ever gets in your PC, as this could ruin it. With no side panel on your PC, it is much easier for stray...

Bottom line is yes, it's perfectly fine to do that as long as you are not completely oblivious to the way you act near your PC. You don't want too hot hardware, as that throttles performance and reduces component lifespan.

Fact is if the case is not working to enable the proper air flow and opening the side improves the system.....leave it open. If you plan on a new case in the future you could mod the side panel by cutting a section out and covering it with a piece screen. A case is used to hold the components, create an airflow chamber, help keep dust, bugs and fingers out and esthetics. Antec had a case that was almost totally open to the air. It never caught on but that was not because it did not function as a case.
