I'm going to build a new PC (it's about time) and for a while I thought I would take the Asus R7 260X DC2OC 2GB. When I decided to check again for other video cards and compared some benchmarks, I also found the Geforce 750Ti (2GB) quite interesting. This card is only € 10 (about $14) more expensive, but has a way better price/performance score on the PassMark benchmarks. I ran some comparisons and found out that the Geforce is has slightly lower speeds and other specs (Game Debate link)

Still, in some comparison videos for games the Geforce runs at higher fps. Why is this? And, what would you recommend buying? The rest of my build is as follows:
- AMD FX-6350
- Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 (maybe 990XA-UD3)
- XTX Pro 550W (Bronze edition)
- Crucial 8GB 1600MHz RAM

Still my biggest question is why the 750Ti has lower specs but runs at higher fps?

Solution

..I meant between the 750ti and the 260x(the cards OP has in mind), the 750ti generally has a few FPS more in games due to driver optimization.

here are some benchmarks that i found

on both of those, the 260X is faster than the 650ti and the 750 ti is only about a 10+% difference. the 260X is a great card, i don't know why you are having second thoughts.

The 750 Ti is slightly newer compared to the R7 and scores better on pretty much all benchmarks I have seen so far, that's why I'm having second thoughts.

And the 750 Ti uses less power, which would save me annual power costs.

The R7 260x has more brute force behind it,a good bit actually. Alas AMD hasnt had great optimized drivers since 13.2s and that shows most in benchmarks.

However,a few more FPS(at most 5fps average) in games wasnt as important to me as TrueAudio and Mantle support that the 260x has.

actually there is way more than only 5 FPS of a difference! According to the graphs, the 650ti boost is about 30 FPS behind the 260X on BF4 which is a VERY big difference.

Another point is power consumption. The 750Ti uses way less power than the 260X. I think I will go for the 750Ti, because I will have better performance in games. Isn't that more important than the brute force behind it? (Ok, I won't have Mantle or TrueAudio. Mantle isn't seen too much in games now and I don't think I will have this GPU for more than 4 years).

So... unless someone is going to say I'm making a bad choice, then I will go for the 750Ti.
