Hi all,

I just ordered a XFX R9 290x Double Dissipation for $415 but I am not sure if should have gone with Sapphire R9 290 Tri-x for the same price. Saphire is 290 but may perform better and cooler than XFX 290x? They are about the same price so I am not sure if I should cancel 290x and go with sapphire or not.. Please advise :)

First of all Congratulations! on whatever card you pick!,people have been saying that the XFX cards dont have good cooling! and in that case you would might get throttling, heat and shortening of your cards life span!,However the Tri x by sapphire is known to have very good cooling! and the OC has results similar to that of the R9 290x!.
This means it is a card you could push a bit further!,but i may be wrong!,since those cards a bit different and the margin is not so large it really comes down to what you prefer!

Thanks Fireman. I am not worried about XFX lifespan since it has lifetime guarantee. My only concern is the performance. I heard about XFX bad cooling issues but $415 for a R9 290x it was hard to ignore the deal.

Still, if it will perform worse than tri-x I can cancel to order and get a tri-x for the same price. Not sure what to do.

ahah sorry my mistake am just floating! so comparison here!,now originally there isnt a huge gap between the two cards!,
http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/?cid=1...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

They are actually pretty much the same!,the things that set them apart are the XFX having 256 more stream proccessors!
and the Sapphire having one of the best cooling solutions around!

SO stream processing is based on a large ammount of cores that work in a low rate! (it will do a large part of the rendering)
And the Sapphires Cooling solution uses a vapor chamber (spreads the heat on a larger surface) and has 3 fans!

Lastly, your rendering might be a little better on your R9 290x,but the sapphire will give you Quite running ?!?! something along these lines,i tried spreading this out as much as i can! and it is left for you to choose
