Asus audio (supremefx) is just a marketing gimmick. It actually has the exact same audio codec with MSI Z87i Gaming AC which is realtek alc1150. Asus really likes rebranding stuff with some "cool" names but at the end of the day it's the same shit all over.

Many use the same base 1150, the FX enhances on it, by isolating the PCB, higher quality ELNA and WIMA caps, better headphone DAC, and there's supposed to be enhancements to it from Realtek for the FX... MSI has done the same, while many use the 1150 codec, it's all in what you do with it, so no it's not the same all over....

Gigabyte, MSI and ASRock also isolating the chip from pcb, using 600ohm headphone amps, similar quality caps. These are not new features. If you really want a better onboard solution Gigabyte G.1 sniper series has by far the best sound processor which is a quad core Creative Core 3d. The rest of the solutions are really the same and the differences are like 2-3 points in snr.

Correct, everybody takes tha basicas and customizes them to what they want to accomplish (better than the other guys), but that doesn't change the fact they are all done differently, and some approaches result in better sound than others. It's no different than how individual mobos are set up with the basic chips set for the mobo, or GPUs are individually set up around different designs for optimization, so it's a whole lot more than a marketing gimmick as you claimed earlier, though if you want to call it that, don't individualize by brand as you have, since to some degree or other all the big manufacturers customize most everything... ;)
