Hello everyone,

First of all I would like to say that I am very inexperienced in upgrading computers. Currently I cannot run games at a very high resolution (1440 x 900 is the highest with frame rate issues) and I would like to try and upgrade my computer to be able to handle games smoothly. I was thinking of upgrading my RAM from 4 to 8 gigs and looking into a new GPU. Here are the specs for my computer:
System Specs

I apologize in advance if there is any information missing, any help would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks for your time.

If this is your motherboard, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128469 Then yes, you have a PCI Express 2 x16 slot in there. In order to improve game framerate you need a better graphics card. You currently have integrated graphics, which are an old nForce built in chipset. So as long as your PSU is powerful enough you can put in whatever graphics card you want. (Would advise a gtx 750 since it can be put in a low end system) Also you should look into the ram, it looks like there are weird ram limitations, try and purchase the exact same you have in there currently and then slap it in there and you are good to go. As long as you have enough open ram slot dims of course.

40 pages and only 4 lines are relevant info:
Cpu: AMD Phenom II X4 925
Ram: 2x2gb CM3X2G1333C9N
Mobo: M68MT-S2P
Gpu: 5570

Still need psu to know if you need to upgrade that too. I am assuming this is a mid tower. How much do you want to spend?

I didn't even catch the graphics card. Thanks for sifting through that. It isn't the easiest thing to do on my phone. I believe that if it is powering a 5570 then it would not be an issue if he put in a maxwell card. If he did that and then replaced the ram (since there are only two dims) then I believe he would good to go! Do we know what revision that motherboard is so that we can go and look up the memory compatible with that specific model. There seem to be three or so revisions on the website.

I believe he would have to purchase a 2x4GB kit since the maximum memory is 8GB and it would likely have to be something specific since apparently this board is very finicky with the ram it likes to accept.

You're exactly right. I was thinking 2x4 but typed 8 for some reason. I did look up the board @gigabyte and the max memory is only 8GB. 2x4

Sorry for the late response and I apologize for the mountains of annoying and useless info, I used cpu-z and I wasn't sure what info to omit.
Thank you everyone who has given input, it really helps a lot. Here is the link to the gigabyte motherboard website http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3726#ov

My price range is around 300 at the most, I was looking at this for memory
http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-PC3-10666-240-Pin-Memory-CMX8GX3M2A1333C9/dp/B003N8GVUY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1402948070&sr=8-2&keywords=CMX8GX3M4A1333C9

and I am going to look around a bit for a graphics card like the gtx 750ti, on to smoother framerates and less headaches!.

Thanks again

That ram will work fine. Here is the model of 750ti I would recommend http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-Superclock-Dual-Link-Graphics-02G-P4-3753-KR/dp/B00IDG3IDO/ref=zg_bs_284822_1. All 750 and 750ti models are referred to as maxwell, it is the super power efficient architecture Nvidia is working on. This means you can use these cards with pretty much any power supply.

So after looking at the power supply itself, there are a few stickers but i'm not sure if they have the info i'm looking for.
The one with the barcode says
0210300179
PX-480RPF
LA11010004

I bought the computer on newegg its a iBUYPOWER i-series 301
model number 8E-GANL1-UGB

I tried to look it up in my history at newegg but it isn't coming up so I might have to ask support over there.

hope this helps

It is not a quality PSU, but will work with this build. As stated earlier, if you plan to add or replace anything else in the future that requires more power, then I would highly recommend a new unit.
