The problem is the monitor does not respond at all. The text does not display, so I can not see the screen to call up the bios. I called Asus, and they sent me another motherboard, but it has the same problem. Does a monitor has to be listed in the bios in order for it to be recognize? This is a old ViewSonic.

What cpu do you have in your Z87 motherboard? The video would be in the cpu, not on the motherboard, so if you have a cpu without an iGPU, that won't work. Also, can you provide a specific model for the monitor you're trying to connect, and which type of video connectors you're using at each end?
