I'm buying an AMD R9 280x to crossfire with my current AMD Sapphire 7970 OC edition. I have seen many issues with this card from many manufacturers and I'm curious which one is the most reliable to today as all the issues I have seen date back to when the card released. Also, if one card doesn't work well out of the box, like artifacting, but can be fixed easily, which cards are best. It would be cool if people could list the top 2 manufacturers as I'm buying used from Amazon because that will save me at least $50.

Then how about the ASUS R9280X-DC2T-3GD5...It has good reviews and is powered by 6+8 pin connector If your PSU doesn't have 3 8 pin connectors and you don't like use 4 pin to 8 pin connector :)

That ones a possibility, but a little on the pricier side. How does the regular sapphire 280x compare? Im not looking for high clocks as the 1000-1100 range will do just fine. I can't for the life of me figure out how to overclock my 7970, because whenever I try, I cant get past 1050 mhz without it artifacting and increasing voltage doesn't do anything for it as I try every voltage with 20 vvdc increments from 1137 - 1300.

So yeah, clock speeds arent a concern. Reliability and temperatures are the biggest concerns.
