Hello,

I am new to this whole threads i really your help guys, basically i just got upgraded my hardware to the following I5 4670K, with an Asus Gryphon Motherboard and a Zalman Lq310 Liquid CPU cooler . The problem i am having is the cpu is overheating when it is on standby, basically while it is on standby the cpu fan is running on full speed (2000 rpm) and i go and check the cpu temperature it is around 67-70c the program i am using is Asus Suite 3, i checked on the Task Manager nothing is using the CPU that is making it overheat like that, on the Suite 3 all other components are cool 34c just the CPU. Once i restart the cpu cools down and i can use it play games like crysis 3 it is around 50C under load.
Can you guys help me out let me know what is the problem? your help is highly appreciated

Hey man, i am not sure if the Pump is Running how can i check? but the Fan is running on Full speed, like i mentioned earlier once i turn on the computer and i actually use it the temperatures are fine even on load. It is only when i leave the pc and it goes on standby i come back and i hear the fan on full speed and i go ahead and check i see the temparture at around 75c. could it be a software issue did i mess around with something maybe? the only thing i can thing of is the Asus Suite 3

Can you touch the radiator? Do so carefully, it should be hot, if it isn't and your CPU is that temperature then your fan can spin as hard as it wants, the heat isn't getting to the rad which will tell you that either the pump isn't going or you aren't making good contact with the CPU.

To see if the pump is running i would start by just putting your hand on top of it and seeing if you feel any vibrations, i haven't dealt with the closed loop liquid coolers before so i don't know an easy way to check.

Did you plug the pump in?

Everything is plugged in, i will check if the radiator is hot or not, it is just weird that it is only CPU overheats when it is on standby only. But when i actually use the PC and actually game for example the temperatures are fine. Could it be the fan profile not set right?

What RPM are you fans at?

running at full speed, Basically what i tried today i turned off Standby and now it is running fine, i tried it under load it reached around 50C and went back down to 29c idle. so it has something to do with the Standby. i dont get it. any ideas?
