So 2 days ago i just plugged in my usb 2.0 into a early 2011 macbook pro and it asked me to format it. After formatting and backing up some files(did a clean install of mavericks) and plugged into a windows laptop. The computer made a audible sound when removing it but putting it in did not. Also i was not able to move any files or find it. It works when plugging into the mac but not pc. Any way i can reclaim my usb?

Thanks

whats the brand and model of the usb

And..

Erase the USB disk using ro change to the format exFAT. exFAT is compatible with Mac OS X 10.6.5 or newer, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8. To erase the disk, open Disk Utility (Applications > Utilities folder), select the USB drive in the sidebar, go to Erase tab and select exFAT on Format
