I suggest you spend at least $75 for the Pentium G3258 or Athlon X4 750k

Yes, the CPU is a tad better. However I wouldn't bother buying it (depending on how much you're spending, hopefully less than $30), since you may not notice a notable difference.

If you state what motherboard you currently have, perhaps we could suggest a better CPU upgrade within your budget? With that said, please could you also reply with your budget in terms of upgrading your CPU?

All the best. :)

I wouldn't upgrade on a 78 chipset mobo. Waste of time.

Try a 990fx chipset mobo and get say an fx 8320

Are you sure your motherboard is the GA-78LMT-S2P AM3+?

You've stated you have the Athlon II X2 4450e processor, and want the Phenom Triple-Core 8450; they're both AM2/AM2+ socket processors respectively. If your motherboard actually is the GA-78LMT-S2P AM3+, the processors are not compatible with it. I'm just assuming you have stated the wrong motherboard?

Apologies if I'm giving you a hard time, I just need to ensure which motherboard you have to determine which CPU would be an ideal upgrade.

All the best. :)

It only has 4+1 power phases and is not heatsinked. You need a real good cooler to even try overclocking - per overclock.net
