Hi,

My current rig specifications are:-

AMD athlonn II X3 450
GIGABYTE M68MT-S2 Mother board
XFX HD 7770 1 gb ddr5 core edition
8 gb ddr3 ram

i want to upgrade my pc for better gaming performance.....initially i want to upgrade my cpu and later on after couple of months i want to upgrade my graphics card.

i am considering below 2 components for upgrade:-

1) INtel i5 4670 + Gigabyte GA-B85-D3H Motherboard

i am not in to over clocking so thats why i chose normal 4670

2) AMD FX 8350 + MSI 970A-G46 Motherboard


i heard that amd has 8 cores annd i 5 has 4 cores..........but i also heard that i5 beats down tha amd in core performance...and the news is that future games require maximum cores for best performance...i am totally confused from couple of days....so please help me......thanks in advance

Hi,

Thanks for reply and can you please suggest me a affordable h97 motherboard and if i go for #1 option will my current graphics card be okay for gaming as i need some more months to upgrade my gpu.

HI,

Thanks for the reply and i am unable to find any h97 based mother moard as i am based in india and one more thing to ask is............is this th right time to upgrade or shall i wait for some more days because i heard that intel is launching new haswell cpus......

If India is that limited in supply, waiting isn't going to help unless you plan to wait a long time. As for CPU, if it's not much more expensive, go for a i5-4690.

What sites are available to you? Can you provide some Indian sites you order from?

we have sites like flipkart.com snapdeal.com and amazon.in and if i go for i5 4690 please suggest me an affordable montherboards around 7000 indian rupees.

HI,

I searched for i5 4690 but am unable to find it in india, and if i go for 4670k will there be any added advantage and as i said earlier i am not in to over clocking.........so shalli go for 4670 or 4670k version.

Oh wow didn't know the i5-4690 is so much more expensive. Scratch that.

CPU: Intel i5-4670K (14,889)
Motherboard: MSI H97 Gaming 3 (11,825)

Is that okay? The only i5-4690 I found was on the amazon site you put up. It was 18,300. So I decided to save that money and put that to good use in the motherboard. Unfortunately, that is the ONLY H97 ATX motherboard that I can find.

I know that the motherboard is NOT overclockable, even though the CPU is. But it was actually cheaper than the non-K version, so why not? Just because you can OC it, doesn't mean you have to. The non-K version is here in case you missed the K version that I listed on snapdeal. It's only a little cheaper, but worth it.

HI,

Thanks for the reply and i am ok with the processor but motherboard price is little bit on higher side for my budget..........cant i go with any other chipset based motherbord like 87 one so that it will cut down my budget.

i saw in some of sites that amd fx 8350 has 8 cores where as intel has only 4 cores.......am asking because most of future games are demanding more cores......

this will be last upgrade to my computer......so will h87 motherboard will be enough for me?...........i woul like to upgrade my gpu only not cpu in future..........

For gaming, the i5 is still much stronger. Games do not make use of many cores so even though the FX-8350 has 4 more cores than the i5, very few select games make good use of those extra cores. Furthermore, while the FX-8350 has more cores, each core is weaker than that of the i5's. So because games do not make use of all those extra cores, the extra power of the i5's individual cores makes it the winner when it comes to gaming. It's been talked about for a while now and games really has not picked up to the point where the extra cores is going to be a big impact on gaming for now or the foreseeable future.

And if the H97 is really out of your budget, then the H87 is fine. I would choose the Gigabyte GA-H87-D3H motherboard.

Thanks for the reply and i really love to go with i5 4670k and can please suggest me any other motherboard which is bit cheaper like 7000 indian rupees and also suggest me good graphics card which i can bring in future............

You're starting to be VERY confusing. Because based on what you've said, you should be able to afford those components but now, you're saying that you want them cheaper. So please do me a favor and post up your budget so I am not running back and forth putting up components just to find out that you cannot afford it.

Sorry for confusing , my overasll budget is 20,000 indian rupees and as you mentioned i5 4670k which costs around 15,000 rs and with remaining 5,000 rs i have to buy motherboard and of course i can spend extra 2000 rs to get a new motherboard.
