I've been wanting to do my first build for a while now and I received the Intel Core i7-920 2.66GHz as a starter. I have read that this is a little outdated but can still do the trick if it has the right parts. I need help with picking out the part to go with this CPU. This is my first build so I don't know exactly what to be looking for so please, if you suggest an item, tell me why you suggested it.

Oh and their is a budget of $700 but i will be working over the summer to get a better budget.
(If a part doesn't fit the budget, go ahead and suggest it anyways because I might get more money).

Your first issue is that the LGA1336 socket MB are not made any longer. You can find some used boards around but none new from any major manufacturer. So do a google search for one and see what turns up. Next that cpu is designed to use triple channel ddr3 memory. That means 1 or 2 sets of three. Then after all the other parts you will need, you will have an out dated system. If you have $700 look at this (http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/build-your-own-budget-gaming-pc,3780.html). By using these parts to build your first system you will have a much better system that is current tech. I still use my 920 system and have been running it from day 1 o.c.'d to 4ghz. But this linked system will out perform it.
