hey guys m planning to buy a gpu but not sure which one to go with...gt 640 ddr3 version has 128bits memory and gt 640 ddr5 version has 64 bit memory...so which one is better? ddr5 wit 64bits or ddr3 with 128 bits?....m also considering r7 240 ddr5 version ..its memory is 128bits but its core clock speed is considerably less than the gt 640...so which one of these is the best?..all the 3 are almost the same price so price is not an issue i guess..!!

All of these are rather awful cards which will offer very little performance boost over an integrated graphics chip or whatever you're currently running in your system. GDDR5 is always better than GDDR3, so if you must go with one of them, go with the GT 640 with the R5 memory.

There's the gpu and there's the vram to consider. Though I do agree all choice from my point of view are 'awful' and I don't mean full of awe.

The gt640 with the ddr5 vram is better than the gt640 with the ddr3 vram because ddr5 vram is faster than ddr3 vram.

But also the vram bandwidth makes a difference. 128 bits is better than 64 bits. So in the end, I'd say both gt640's have close to the same performance.

http://gpuboss.com/gpus/Radeon-R7-240-vs-GeForce-GT-640 says the gt640 is better than the r7 240

So get any of the GT640's.

i think the gt 640 shdn hav a problem though...!!
