No case optical drive!

So I need to install windows. I bought the NZXT H440 and there is no place to put an optical drive. Can I take the internal optical drive out of another computer and temporarily hook it up to my motherboard to install windows?

Easiest thing to do would be to install windows using a flash drive.

If you are installing windows 7, check out this site:

Windows 8, this site:

But yes, you could pull an optical drive out of another computer and temporarily hook it up.

get an enclosure for your Optical drive , sooner or later you will need it for game discs or dvd's etc

Totally safe. And it will be faster than using a disk. I haven't had an optical drive in my computer for 5 years. You can always get a USB optical drive if you really need it.

You plug it in , install windows , once finished you unplug it and you're safe .

That is a ridiculous solution to this problem. USE A FLASH DRIVE!!! It is faster, easier, and does the exact same task. Can someone explain to me why you would go through the process of removing the optical drive from a different computer and then "temporarily" hooking it up to the new computer?

It takes a 4GB flash drive, not 8. And unless you are 50 miles from "town" it would be faster. Who doesn't have a 4GB flash drive?

No it doesn't but it's not worth spending extra money on a usb drive imo , just take the od from the old pc out and install windows with it .
As for WHComp , not all usb drives are super dooper fast , some are really slow

actually yes , my apologies , windows 8 iso is 4.XX gb's , but it's not worth getting out and buying a usb drive when you can plug in your od and install it , and save money .
