Well, I just put together my new computer (besides the CPU cooler and SSD which haven't arrived), and almost everything works perfectly.

System specs:

MSI z97 MPower motherboard
16GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical 1600MHz RAM
Intel i7-4770K
PNY 4GB Nvidia GTX 770
NZXT Switch 810

Now, I've connected all of the cords and everything, but, for some reason, the front-panel USB ports don't seem to be functioning. The USB3 header is properly attached, and the front-panel USB 2.0 ports seem to be working perfectly.

I'm assuming the problem is with the USB3 connector built into my motherboard, or the actual 3.0 ports built into the case. So, what should I do?

USB3 ports require drivers in order for them to work. Go to your motherboards website and download the drivers for it. Also if you built your PC make sure you have plugged the front panel USB3 into the motherboard.

I guess this is something I do after installing my OS? My SSD was shipper rather slowly by Amazon, so, unfortunately, it isn't here yet, and I'll have to wait.

I also didn't purchase a CD/DVD drive for my computer, so I guess I'll be turning those into ISO's and running them that way. Thanks for the tip, though, because I hadn't thought of that...

I've plugged the USB3 header into my motherboard, but my SSD has yet to arrive from amazon, so I'll have to wait on installing the drivers until Wednesday.

Yes you need to install your drivers (included with you mobo and GPU) on top of an OS.

Your OS you can be installed using a USB flash drive.

For Windows 7 visit http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/html/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool

For Windows 8 visit http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media

As for the drivers, you simply download them from your motherboards website.

Okay, here's some further information:

- All rear I/O USB ports (2.0 & 3.0) are receiving power, as I can charge my iPod using them.
- Only front-panel USB 2.0 ports are receiving power. the 3.0 ports aren't even operating as 2.0 ports like the Rear I/O ports currently are.

Would this be the result of missing drivers, or faulty hardware?
