I bought a new Sapphire R7 260X 2GB GD5 OC off Amazon, didn't even occur to me it might not work on XP, but I notice on the packaging XP is not listed as a supported O/S, and it states minimum 4 Gb of RAM, so before I unpack the card and try it I thought I'd ask first.

My machine is a Pentium D 3 Ghz, on an ASRock ConRoe1333-D667 mobo, with 4.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 266MHz memory, (although of course XP doesn't see all of it). I've been on the Sapphire website and there is a driver for XP for this graphics card, so now I'm not sure whether it will work or not. Can anyone help ?

Cheers for the reply, and to be honest I thought it probably a bit excessive, but at £85 off Amazon I figured it would do for now and I could then also use it when I upgrade my machine in a few months time. But in terms of it actually working, from your response I take it it will work, (even if not to anything like it's full potential), I was worried it wouldn't even be seen by the O/S, or would throw up 'unrecognised O/S' or 'insufficient RAM' errors ?

It will work as I have Sapphire toxic radeon r9 270 X2 working on win xp sp2 but i will tell you that as xp is oldest it will not let your r7 260 X work at its full capacity as I can only get 30 fps while using xp in most of the games at ultra but If I use the same card by booting with win7 then I get constant 60 fps in the same games.
My pc is dual booted (2 OS)
