What ethernet cable do i need?

Hello, I am getting ready to order my pc parts for my new gaming build. I will need an Ethernet cable running from my router to my pc. Could anyone recommend a good Ethernet cable, although I don't even know if I need a decent one.... xD My download speed is usually 500kbs/second. Thanks in advance!

Hello thanks for the reply, what is the difference between cat5e and cat6? A 20m cat5e cable for £2.95 and a cat6 cable for £11.99. I presume cat6 would be better but is the difference (if any) worth the extra few quid?

No, not worth it in the least.
Cat5e will do 1Gb/s up to 100 meters.
Cat6 will (theoretically) do 10Gb/s up to about 55 meters (provided you have all the other hardware, which you do not), and 1GB/s up to 100 meters.
Cat6A will do 10G up to 100 meters. Again, if you all the other required hardware.

Cat6 is being sold because "bigger numbers are better!!" It provides no benefit in normal use.
You would not see any difference.

    Cat5e is fine.
