Running games from second HDD

Hello,

I am buying a new SSD today and I have about 20-30 games in my current HDD set up.
I am going to have my SSD as my main OS drive and my second drive for games/movies/big files.
Is there any way I can run the games from the HDD while they are already installed in the HDD? Or do I have to reinstall them all again?

Thanks.

I would check the website for the specific game developer and see if they have any helpful suggestions for moving an installation. If they do not, I'm afraid that you'll just have to reinstall the game(s).

Hi mickypheonix,
but I wouldn't be running the HDD os, only from the SSD OS since it will be my main one. I doubt the games would run easily from the new SSD os since as you stated, they're tied to the old HDD OS
Thanks

ohhhhhh, so if I leave the old OS intact and run the SSD OS it would still go into the old HDD OS and still run on the new set up....interesting I didn't think about it that way, didn't think it would work that way, I'll definitely let you know once I install it in a few hour show it went,
Thanks!

No, this is most definitely NOT true!

After you install the new SSD and new OS, the OS on the old HDD is HISTORY, KAPUT!

If your games are run by Steam or Origin, you can reinstall Steam/Origin on the SSD and point the "Library" to the game folder on your old HDD: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7418-YUBN-8129

One game worked so far but a couple of others I tried didn't, I'll definitely check the developers sites for any help, I thank both of you for your inputs!

FYI - SSD IS STUPID FAST

Lol amazing is an understatement
By the way, of the 30ish games I have, about 20-25 of them work (with many tweaking involved including transferring save files) but I'm definitely happy, I expected more frustrations....I'm learning to be more prepared on doing upgrades/builds haha. Thanks everyone!
