Do I meed to upgrade my cpu or gpu to increase the fps while playing minecraft, hosting a server with 2 of my friends and also recording.

The fx-6300 because it is a six core CPU should last you at least 2 more years decently. I suggest you upgrade your GPU since the 660 is a little on the low end of the spectrum. Also the FX series has no real upgrade paths in the future so getting the 8350 isnt really worth it. The GTX 770 is at the top of the tier list in terms of high end and will last you quite a while(until this generation of consoles ends at least).

Oh but your current setup can easily handle games like MineCraft, hosting servers, recording and even streaming. I mean the GTX 770 does cost quite a bit and it will be a while until you absolutely need a card like that for gaming(and I mean A LONG WHILE).

Can your motherboard support the CPU?

By the way, I have a 2.6GHz quad core Pheom and am running minecraft smoothly, I think you got a different problem there. Have you tried optifine mod for minecraft?

It will increase frames but the question is whether or not you care about the increased frames? You wont notice a difference at all in the performance most likely so knowing this its up to you whether or not you care enough about it.
