Possible Lenovo Y400 Processor Upgrade?

Does anyone know if the Lenovo Y400 with an i7-3630QM could be upgraded to an i7-3940XM? I'm pretty sure it can go all the way to an i7-3820QM considering the 3630QM is part of that same series, not sure about the 3940XM though. A quick search on Intel shows both the 3630QM and 3940XM support the same socket type: FCPGA988. If my understanding is correct, I believe that means both would be interchangeable. Check the links that follow for reference.

i7-3630QM & i7-3940XM

Only notable difference is the Max TDP of the 3940XM is higher than the 3630QM at 55w vs 45w. As far as I'm concerned, this just means the 3940XM can potentially draw more power (obvious given the extreme processor series), which could lead to overheating at times. Nothing too concerning, my laptop never leaves my desk so nothing a good cooling pad, some arctic thermal paste, and cpu-core temp can't help me control. The other difference I noticed is the listed PCN/MDDS information differs between the two (right side column of the intel page). "SR0US" for the 3630QM and "SR0UX" for the 3940XM. I assume these are just technical specifics to identify and classify the different series of processors, not too sure though if anyone can confirm.

I have upgraded a processor before in two other laptops I've owned and I'm sure the process here will be the same. As far as I can tell, the 3630QM can easily be swapped out with a 3940XM; main thing being that they share the same socket type. Anyone care to share their thoughts? I'm looking to upgrade, thanks!

In an OEM computer (Laptop or Desktop) the same socket doesn't mean much, A different TDP can mean the mobo or power supply will not provide enough power for the CPU ((percentage wise, it's a big jump) Also OEM's many times have bios that limit the CPU upgradibility. (and sometime solder in the CPU)
The only accurate way to find out is to contact Lenovo & find out from them.

I know the CPU can be upgraded in this model, it's not soldered in. Would I be able to check the BIOS version and somehow find out if I can upgrade to a 3940XM? I agree with you that it is a notable difference as a percentage, does that shoot down this potential upgrade right there?

I'll definitely try and call them too, thanks for your response.
