No Audio in home built PC, Specs below

I have the pc hooked up to my tv via hdmi but I can't get the sound to work. when i go to sound>playback this is what I see http://i.imgur.com/sE5f5jY.jpg. I installed the Catalyst Driver thing but it still didn't work. Also I tried plugging headphones in to every 3.5' port but at best all I could get was static

Windows 7 64bit
Amd fx 4300 processor
Asus M5a97 Mobo
8gb memory, corsair vengeance ddr3
Asus HD7770-2GD5 graphics card
2TB WD HDD
120GB Samsung SSD
750w psu

You installed all drivers for the motherboard too?
Your motherboard is it just that one or rev.2.0? ->different drivers.

When you plug the hdmi cable into the tv again it's still not recognized?
Have you tried a different hdmi port on the tv?
