i5 4440 with r9 270(nox X) or i3 4130 with r9 280(non X) ?

If it is for gaming strictly, I would choose the i3 combo because most games are gpu dependent, not so much cpu. However, it depends on the game. If you do run into a situation where it is cpu bound, the 280 will be bottlenecked by a significant amount thus possibly resulting in lower fps than the i5.
