How good is my pc? And how much more do I need to upgrade for even better gaming??

Hello, I have spent some time and money upgrading my pc for gaming..and I'm pretty happy with the results but I noticed I can't play new games at no 120 fps or more like I expected...My current specs are:

Intel Core I7 CPU 950 @ 3.07 GHZ

16 GB of DDR3 Corsair ram at 1600 mhz

Geforce GTX 780 TI SC ACX, 3 GB

Asus VG248QE 120 hz monitor

Got some good Bose speakers for $250

1.36 TB Hard drive along with a 74.4 gb hard drive

Is there a reason why i'm not getting above 120 fps? I mean the pc runs any game at max settings at pretty smooth framerate but nothing extremely dominating like I was hoping/expecting...Is there any upgrades I need to get that superior framerate?? Thanks.

I have the new wolfenstein and watch dogs, planetside 2, skyrim, rome 2 total war, crysis 1 and crysis 3, metro last light and metro 2033, stalker shadow of chernobyl, dead space 1&2, black and white 2, outlast, half life 2, counter strike and many others... but the most demanding games I get about 30 to 45 fps and planetside 2 I get 60 fps exactly all maxed out but at 1080p..

Wolfeinstein allows a max of 60 regardless of the monitor.
Watch Dogs, We're still waiting for a patch.
Not sure about planetside because I never played the game.
metro LL & 2033 very heavy maxed out With MAX AA.
Dead space 3 should be a joke for your pc.
Crysis 1 and 3 is challenging. " you should be getting anywhere from 40 - 60 fps with these games maxed out at 1080p with max AA

If you upgrade your platform to a Z97 with a 4790k when it comes out and buy another 780 ti you will get a lot more performance.

You aren't going to get more than 120 FPS with a 120hz monitor.
Your setup should be playing all of them max at 40-60 for the most demanding and upwards of 80 for the less. If you really feel it necessary get another 780 Ti and pick up the best monitor you can afford. Also upgrade your processor to something like a 4770k or the 4790k like mr91 suggested because games like Crysis 3 are CPU intensive and really take advantage of the most power in a processor.
Of course 2 780 tis are overkill for a one monitor setup.

The problem is, even with 780ti SLI, you will not get to 120 FPS in many/most newer games. That is because many games you mentioned are CPU bound well before you 120 FPS, even with the fastest CPU's made. That is just the reality of gaming. DX12 may help with that, but unless dev's start to cater to 120hz users, there will always be games that push the CPU too hard to hit 120 FPS.

The bottom line is that if the OP upgrades to a Z97 with a 4970k and buys another 780ti there will be a huge increase in performance...

Getting a solid 120 fps with max settings and antialiasing will still not be a reality for many recent AAA titles.

Yes, that is the reality of gaming currently. He could even OC the current CPU past 4.0Ghz for a notable improvement, and drop settings a bit for his 780ti now, and see close to what a stock Haswell CPU can do.

It's a decent enough rig but the current CPU is rather behind the times and is holding back the GTX780Ti in some of those titles-mainly the new ones and Rome TW.
Cheapest option would be to add a decent CPU cooler and overclock it (as bystander has done with his i7 920), you'll get closer to full performance of the 780Ti for a fraction of the cost of a CPU+MB+RAM upgrade.
Some of those games are sensitive to certain settings: Metro 2033/LL will punish you for using DOF or anything other than the default AAA anti aliasing for example.
And check the memory specs, those i7s used triple channel memory, not dual channel as is the current norm.
