what's the max oc I can get on this, stable? I'd love to get 5 ghz, but I've heard the max is 4.8 or so, if the h110 and motherboard don't restrict me that much, can I get 5-5.4 ghz?
You should be fine, as the graphite will be on the pins that you straightened but as long as you didn't create a trace between pins it shouldn't short. I have a 6300 that I straightened out, I used a mechanical pencil which slipped over the pins, and it is working perfectly for me, allowed me to get it at a discount.

5-5.4 can be a bit aggressive, especially as AMD's binning for the 9590s. How high you will eventually get is a luck of the draw, I'd probably set my goal to a stable 4.6 to 4.8 or so.
It depends on a lot of things, how lucky your CPU pick was, the ambient temps... You may be able to reach 5Ghz, best way to find out is to give it a go.
alright, the h110 is coming in tomorrow, can't wait to fire it up. Also, what do you guys mean "luck of the draw" for the cpu? Do some 8350's OC better for some random reason? The ambient temps are fine, I have an Air conditioner on almost 24/7 and its industrial, loud as fuck.
Run prime95 blended test for at least 2 hours. Of course that is just my recommendation, some people want you to run it longer, some thing a shorter run is sufficient. Just make sure you are actively monitoring your temps for the first couple of minutes.

on an off-topic note, a few of my fx 6300 pins bent when i took it out, i fixed it with a pencil. WIll the graphite affect it? Will it still work?
