my wireless button stays orange and isn't working

I
Check Control Panel, Device Manager, Network devices to see if it's working. If no try to download and re-install the driver.

Also check you're connected via Control Panel, Connect to a Network.

If it's still on warranty, take it back to the shop.

HP Elitebook 6460p
undocked my laptop and now the wifi works normally, but once docked into the enhanced docking station, can not enable wifi - note the Bluetooth works in both.
