iRacing is a great system but does have a membership fee, just like any console.
They offer a 1 month membership for $12, 3 month for $30, 1 year for $100, and 2 years for $180.
Along with a periodic membership fee, all cars and tracks are a one time fee, intermediate to large tracks are $15 while short tracks are $12. All cars are also $12. With the regular membership package iRacing offers, you will recieve 6 cars and 11 tracks for free. iRacing does offer other promotions that will give you other items like discounted price on cars and tracks and or membership price.
iRacing usually offers membership and renewals for 50% off during the July area and memberships only are half off around Black Friday. In addition, iRacing has volume discounts in which the more items you purchase, the more of a discount you will receive.
iRacing does have participation discounts where members need to participate in 8 different race weeks out of 12 week season in a specific official series. If a "shortened season" it will be prorated based on drop weeks. For example, if an 8 week season with 2 drop weeks member will need to participate in 6 race weeks. With this discount, you can earn up to $40 of iRacing credits towards your account which can be later used to buy cars, tracks, and memberships.
