Achieveing 144fps on Battlefield 4 with a R9-280x

I am making a new computer very soon and wanted to get a 144hz monitor along with it but was wondering if a R9-280x would be able to obtain 100-144 fps. The most intensive game I would play would be Battlefield 4 and that is the only one where I am concerned with reaching my framerate goal. I will have an fx-8320(overclocked to hopefully around 4.5ghz) if that helps also. Also one last note is that settings wont matter as long as its around 1920x1080 or 1680x1050, my mesh quality can remain pretty high and I don't have to change around my resolution scale. Thanks in advance.

Tosses a flag. OP your confused, a 144hz monitor does not MEAN / Need 144FPS. You can be doing 3FPS or 300FPS, won't matter to the 144hz monitor, it will always display at 144Hz and will NOT affect how many FPS you have. The advantage the 144hz monitor or even the 120HZ I use is more 'realism' with less 'blurr' during action (movement) and for us OLD FOLKS, more detail so we can actually see your sniper head sitting prone in the bush before you snap off our heads.

So I wouldn't worry about achieving 144FPS, if you got 50FPS would be smooth enough anyway then for 'gameplay'.

i suppose you have a 144hz monitor and you want to match the refresh rate? you dont need to really. you just need an average fps of greater than 60. you can achieve that, with most settings on ultra but antialiasing disabled and make sure you have vsync off.

Ok thanks for the help. It really cleared everything up. But if it doesnt matter if you get 144fps on a 144 hz monitor why do people try and get that number?
