1st off this is a Gateway MD2614U laptop os Win7 home 32bit. I was having a problem with FireFox with all kinds of popup ad's poping up from the bottom and the right side. There was a ">>>" on the right side all the time about 1/4 down from the top. I tried completely uninstalling FireFox along with cookies, bookmarks and everthing else. And reinstalled fresh. No good. Also in order to d/l anything with FireFox I have to go into about:config and change the following line "browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone" to false. The rest of Windows seems to be fine and Internet Explorer and Google Chrome have no problems. I finely got so frustrated that I saved what I need to be saved to a flash drive then wiped the partition on the C drive clean and reinstalled everything new from the install cd's. FireFox was fine for about a week. Now FireFox is back to the same old thing. I am running the latest verison of ZoneAlarm anti virus and firewall. There is also a new wrinkle to the mix now. When I close FireFox in the normal way it doesn't completely shut down. I go to open FireFox again and Windows gives me an error message saying that FireFox is still running. I hit ctrl + alt +del > start task manager. FireFox isn't showing in the applications tab. But if I go into the processes tab, there it is big as life "firefox.exe". I del FireFox from the processes tab then I can open FireFox. That last wrinkle happens every time I close FireFox except for when I close FireFox and power down the laptop.
This is frustrating I like FireFox's setup and layout. But if this keeps up I am going to have to change browsers. Does anyone have any ideas?
