hi,

i know that XFX Radeon R9 290X performs a little bit better than MSI Radeon R9 290 but which one should i get ? MSI Radeon R9 290 got some nice twin frozr coolers and i know that r9 290 cards can get pretty hot . so what do you say ? should i go with stronger XFX Radeon R9 290X or cooler MSI Radeon R9 290 ? Both cards have 2 years warranty

Thanks !

If the XFX is the reference 290X then I'd go for the MSI because the reference cooler on the 290X is awful. Only get the XFX if you're thinking of watercooling it.

If you`re temperature "freak" guy, you should wait a bit or plan for the future, since corsair will be launching this : http://www.corsair.com/en-us/blog/2014/june/hg10_announcement This paired with a AIO liquid cooler like H80i or w/e model will make that twin frozr look like an oven.

I myself bought an expensive Sapphire 290 vapor-x and now i`m looking intro moding a H80i on it since the HG10 is for reference cards so it won`t fit mine.

With AIO you`ll be looking at temps from 75°C on air at stock clocks , to 55°C on AIO liquid cooler with OC.

Or he could buy the already released NZXT G10 bracket which fits a lot of cards and uses more than just Corsairs AIO coolers :p

I would wait for the Corsair one, since the NZXT G10 doesn`t have VMRs heatskinks, it only uses a cheap fan, search youtube, while the GPU Chip will be very cool at around 55°C the VMRs will go above 100°C, this making you go on ebay and buy independent heatsinks for your VMRs thus additional work and costs.

The NZXT was the first of it`s kind, but is not an well thought product till the end.

I have the NZXT G10 but I put heatsinks on it as you said. They were only an extra £15 though so it's still worth it IMO :)

My sapphire card already has a heatsink on the VMRs under the massive vapor-x cooler on top :D but i find it stupid that i payed more for a better cooler just to remove it later to put a water one for even better performance.
