Hard to boot PC after new PSU install

Hi guys,

After I installed my new PSU, an EVGA Supernova 1000 G2, when I press the boot button on my case, the computer boots for about 0,2 seconds, then turns off. Only when I press the on button a few times in rapid succession, my computer boots.

I did not have this problem with my old PSU, an MS-Tech 'MS-N550-VAL'. This is a very cheap (read: bad) PSU, so you would suppose a 160$ PSU would do better than this one. I tried switching out the EVGA one again for the MS-Tech, and the problem was gone.

The problem is similar to this one: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-1965511/starts-shuts-repeats.html However, my RAM and everything is installed correctly and my pc does actually boot, though only when you rapidly press the on button a few times.

Does anyone have any idea what causes this, why it does work when you press it a few times and/or how to fix this, in other words, to make my pc boot when you just press the on button once?

Thanks in advance!

This is a really stupid question and I apologize - but it actually happened to me in a build I created a few yeras back.

Make sure you press the power button for a second or two and that you're not simply pressing it too short for the power to kick in.

Failing that, contact the vendor and talk to them for support.

Haha no that's actually a great suggestion! However, I've got the NZXT H440 which has like a clicky on button that sends the boot signal when the button is pressed in halfway. If you hold the button and release it again after a second (I mean to say not instantly), it will send another boot signal. So it does send the signal even with a short click/press of the button. Holding the button would have no effect because the boot signal would already have been sent. :D
