Hey, I just picked up an R9 280x. I upgraded from an HD5850, but I'm only seeing a slight increase in performance.
My system:
Intel Core i5 750 (2.67ghz)
16GB DDR3(1600mhz)
VTX R9 280X
Could my CPU be bottlenecking my system? I didn't think the cpu had as big an impact on gaming performance as a powerful GPU, so I thought I would be fine upgrading the GPU.
I tested a few games on ultra settings:
Assassins Creed 4: Black flag - average 20 fps (this seems to be locked at 20, it doesn't waver at all)
Watch dogs: Average 19 fps
Wolfenstein: Average 24 fps
X-Rebirth: Average 16 fps
Shadow Warrior: Average 31 fps
Battlefield 4: Average 55 fps
The good performance in battlefield makes me wonder if my cpu is a bottleneck, or are these other games just not well optimized?
Thanks in advance for any information you can share.
