Hey all,

Im currently looking into upgrading my HDD's on my PC to have some kind of RAID array(s) in. I know my stuff about Raid0 Raid1 and Raid5 through work, but i'm just wondering if it would be worth my while posting on here before going for it.

I'm into gaming / video recording. I'm looking to build a Raid0 Array of x2 128GB Samsung SSD's to store games, OS and a couple of bits of software. I'm also looking to have a large HDD array (Possibly another RAID0, but also Possibly a RAID1 just to be on the safe side).
Is it possible to setup x2 RAID arrays in one machine? Also, I don't know much about RAID Controllers, can anyone recommend some.
(Not sure if they are per array or if one controller would work across any array, so some guidence on that would be great too :) )

Thanks guys :D

Your raid controllers will depend on what motherboard you have.

I would recommend against raid 0 for the SSD's. You won't see much in the way of improved speeds other than large sequential file transfers. You might actually see lower random I/O in real world applications.

Depending again on your raid controller and how many ports it spans, you can have as many arrays on each controller as you can fit drives.
