I am quite new to this site so please bear with me. I am looking at buying a new video card specifically the r9 290. On Newegg all the video cars except one says they need a 750w power supply while the gigabyte windforce only needs a 600w and I am wondering how this could be when the widforce has an extra fan.

I also have one more question. Will any of my other components bottleneck a new r9 290

SPECS:
I5-3350p
8gb RAM
1TB HDD
some AS ROCK motherboard

I am not sure but I have the ASUS R9 290 and a 750W PSU, so I recommend you get a 750W PSU too just in case.

None of those will bottleneck the 290, unless you want to overclock, as most motherboards under 100$ don't really let you. But if you want give me the AsRock Mobo name and I'll check to see if it has overclocking capabilities. Obviously if you aren't overclocking, nothing will bottleneck :D

There will be no bottlenecks. This 750 or 600 Watt is a "safe" amount for almost every PSU, including the worst quality ones. The actual power draw is very similar on Gigabyte and other brands, Gigabyte has simply another understaniding of safe. Anyway, don't listen to these minimum safe wattage stuff, and instead use wattage calculator. Actually it should be possible to run R9 290 even with 400W PSU in certain circumstances.
