Hello everybody. I'm new to this forum and the PC Gaming world. I recently built myself a gaming PC as follows:

CPU: AMD fx-8320

MOTHERBOARD: Gigabyte 990fxa-ud3

RAM: Corsair vengeance pro red 16gb 1866mhz

COOLER: Corsair hydro h75

PSU: Corsair cx750m

GPU: Msi radeon r9 290 gaming edition 4096mb

CASE: Corsair carbide 300r windowed

SSD: 120gb Samsung 840 evo series

OS: Windows 8

My problem is whilst playing a game a few days ago I was keeping and eye on my GPU temp using TechPowerUp GPU-Z and the temp was at 99c. I quickly tried to save and exit the game but before I could my PC had shut down without any warning. I turned the pc back on and it booted up fine.

The requirements for the game are as follows:

CPU: Intel Core i5-2300 or AMD Phenom II X4 940

CPU Speed: Info

RAM: 4 GB

OS: Windows 7

Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 or AMD Radeon HD 7750 with 1 GB or better

Sound Card: Yes

Free Disk Space: 15 GB

Since this incident I haven't played the same game and I haven't had the same problem. The max temp my GPU has reached since then is 94c which I would believe to be still way too high considering I only play World of Warcraft atm. I also have a new problem which has only occurred since the shutdown. Whilst paying the screen also flashes black for a split second at regular intervals. Any advice or help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

At this moment in time the GPU temp is at 80c with only internet explorer running and 4 tabs open.

Please send it to the manufacturer as it is unnecessarily heating.

I think your rig isnt having enough airflow.. or there is something wrong with the GPU since its a new build...Avg GPU temp shud be below 60C while playing the game... If the 1st one is not wrong then contact manufacturer.. DON'T MESS WITH IT OR U WILL VOID UR WARRANTY

Atm I have my CPU cooler exhausting out the rear, I have 1x140mm fan exhausting out the top of the case and 2x120mm intake fans on the front. The only other temp I know how to check is the CPU temp and the highest I've seen that is 50c but now I've changed the fan profiles it never goes above 46c. At this moment in time the GPU temp is at 79c and I'm only using IE I've checked the temp using both GPU-Z and MSI afterburner. I wouldn't mess with it. I'd be scared of breaking it

I have tried to contact the manufacturer but when registering my product I keep receiving an error code for my serial numbers so I'm waiting for a reply as to how I can get passed that problem. I thought in the mean time I would see if anyone could advise me on here as to whether the problem is a faulty card or maybe just a software or compatibility issue

I can't fit another fan at the top of the case due to the size of the CPU cooler radiator and fans. I did fit two 120mm fans onto the side window after the shutdown but it didn't seem to make much difference. I removed them thinking that having 4 intake and only 2 exhaust would create positive air pressure and only increase the temps
