Windows 7 asking for two passkeys, never has before. can't connect!

This Windows 7 machine was fine at my previous home, connecting flawlessly to my wireless network. I moved and got a new router and new passkey and now when I try to connect it asks for the security key, which I put in, then after I hit okay, it launches a new window asking again for the network security key. I put in the same thing and it says "The key or passphrase is incorrect"

Every other device in my home (iphone, windows 8 laptops, windows 7 laptops, ipads, video game systems etc) connect fine.

But this one computer asks for the key twice and won't connect wirelessly.

Any ideas?

IN addition to the above suggestions, make sure the second password request is not the browser trying to log into the routers control web page. That seems like a long shot but......

What security settings do you have on the new router? How complex is your security key? If your using wpa2 and a complex key with special characters try lowering the security a tad. Use wpa and a alpha-numeric key.

Every now and then you encounter, what I can only describe as, hardware compatibility issues. My fathers laptop will not connect to my router to save it's life. My brothers laptop was very slow. Then I opened the guess wifi network with slightly lower security settings and boom both problems fixed. Just because all other devices connect fine doesn't always mean it's not the router.

--> "windows 7 laptops" !!

Look very closely at how you set up your W7 laptops...all of them, then copy, exactly, the required settings to the problem W7 machine.

It does appear very bizarre how your are able to connect so many devices and yet have as issue with one unit whose settings would reflect exactly those present in your multiple W7 laptops, of course, barring a device hardware failure.
