Hello,

I have tried unistalling all the driver and reg and reinstalling latest but this has not worked

That's weird is it clocked at the right speeds? Seems like they didn't update the GPU for a new BIOS remember that a 280X is a 7970ghz edition.

Yeah, try a later version of gpuz, one produced after the R7/9 series came out. My 290X shows up correctly.

Hello,

I am not sure if the speed are correct as i dont know what they should be i checked with some online and the seem similare expect the memory clock its at 1150MHz and the memory is GDDR5 (ELPIDA) does this make a difference. Sorry i really dont know much about this :)

Sorry for the late response but your clock speeds in GPU-z should be this or higher 850mhz for the core clock and 1000mhz for the memory. But i doubt that is an issue, also make sure you have the latest drivers from Amd Also make sure you download the latest GPU-Z

I have the latest AMD catalyst and gpu-z latest version. Still the same on the gpu site it shows the r9 280x spec and sensor readings and they also show the gpu as AMD radeon r9 200 series.i checked the highest reading and its just over 1000 MHz for memory

To be honest you can call a 7970ghz edition a 280X or what ever its still the same thing, my guess is they didn't update the bios to say its a 280x. Their is no difference in performance. If you have the latest GPU-Z and Amd drivers and so on then its the bios on the card which is outdated but ok since it performs the same and is the same card anyways.
The 280x is just a re-branded card kinda like how my 770 is a re-branded 680 with a slight boost in clock speed and memory.
