Will this thing work?

Hey,

My friend is trying to buy new CPU and i'm here to ask if this thing could work.
So my friend has HP Compaq DC7700P and he tries to put in Xeon E5420 SLANV.
The processor has been modded to LGA 775. But the mod is not 100% working on all motherboards.
My real guestion is will it work with his mobo?

Hi,

While it might work, unless you are building a server, I don't understand why your getting a xeon.
Branded computer are usually more limited to cpu and memory, I doubt it will work.

To be sure your are not wasting money away, get a core 2 duo or a core 2 quad, you have more luck that it will work.

I'm not getting anything.
This is just my friends "great" idea of upgrading his computer.
