Hi All,

I'm looking to build a small HTPC for my bro's birthday, I'll be ordering the parts this weekend. He doesn't need a much storage as he has a NAS. His current PC has given him nothing but trouble over the last couple of months.

I usually build gaming PC's so this is my first small build. The parts and prices I have got from amazon UK. Does anyone have other recommendations?

CPU: AsRock FM2A88X-ITX+ £70.87
MB: AMD APU A8 6500K £69.99
RAM: Corsair 2x2GB £39.51
HDD: Kingston V300 120GB £47.47
Drive: Sony BD-7300 Blu-Ray Writer £48.91
Case: Antec ISK300-150 £68.76

Total: £345.51

The case comes with a 150watt supply, which should be plenty. He will be doing some basic tasks, mainly as a media center attached to his TV and Amp.

I'm going to install Linux Mint+XBMC, I know he has a copy of windows 8, if he would prefer windows.

Any advice would be much appreciated

Pick a different case or upgrade the psu please.

The A8 6500k is advertised as 65watt, and the 6600k was 100watt.

I was thinking of the 6600k, but thought I would need to change case and PSU. I want to keep a small footprint so if you have any ideas would be great
