Was running the my system on 4gb of ram. Added 4gb of the exact same ram and the computer will not post. All the fans spin up and the power light for the mobo is on.

Wait, do you have it hooked up to a monitor? Or do you have any hdd's plugged in? Plus ram is sold in kits for a reason, if you are just going to use one stick ( or upgrade from 1 to 2 in your case ) its recommended that you buy new ram in a kit. The slightest difference in ram sticks can cause problems. Some motherboard are very sensitive to this stuff. Even if you bought "the same exact kind" manufacturers could have changed the way they make that model now. Never the less, would you be able to give the full specs of your computer? Thanks.

I know this may seem like a stupid question to ask, but the RAM sticks are in the right slots according to the motherboard's manual right?

I actually have 4x2gb sticks of ram. All four are the same, Kingston kvr800d2n5/2g.
When I installed the second pair of ram, that's when you trouble started.

Sometimes to reset the CMOS there will be a button on the motherboard to do so. Test all the RAM individually if you haven't.

If you need any more help on CMOS,
