Dear community,

I have a relatively old pc, a small form factor hp dc5800 with 2.48 gb ram, intel Core 2 duo e7300 @ 2.66 Ghz. I want to play doom 3 on it.

Slots: x1 pciex, x16 pciex, j20 pci.
Vga integrated into motherboard.

What type of additional graphics card should I buy to run doom 3 smoothly?

I have an lg flatron e2442 display with hdmi, dvi-d and d-sub inputs.

Which graphics card?
Thanks

I beleive you have listed your available slots confusingly. HP says you have a pcie x1 and a pcie x16 slot available. All modern cards would use the pcie x16 slot.

The low profile aspect of your pc is the limiting factor. The best performing card you can buy for that to my knowledge is an ATI 7750 low profile card which runs about $100-120. This is followed closely by the r7-250 for about $65-100. The Nvidia GT640 is also a strong performer at around $80

Please be aware that lower/cheaper cards are capable of running doom3 also.

Heres the best deal I found on newegg. $63 after rebates for an r7-250

Hi, thanks for your explanation, now I see what low profile means.

I have checked the cards you have mentioned, but either not in stock or much more expensive here.

Locally in my town there is a nice rebate for Sapphire Radeon HD5450 1GB 64bit DDR3 PCI-E. With its price, for me it is worth to buy to play doom3.

It is low profile. Do you think it is sufficient to play doom3 smoothly with high res and high details?

Thanks
