New PC with Win8 preinstalled - screen completely black?

Hi there.
I just purchased a new PC and the screen goes completely upon start up. (won't even go to login screen). The only visible thing is the mouse cursor. I don't have any other details as I have not even been able to log on. Haven't tried anything yes. Just coming to the experts for help

Is this your first attempt at booting up since you purchased the system?
If so, disconnect everything from the usb ports except for mouse and keyboard.

When you contact the seller, what do they say? Presumably this is still under warranty?

And tell us the brand and model of the PC.

And how long did you wait? The thing might be finalizing the install and preparing for customization so a five minute wait might be in order.
