Heyy

Was wondering if anyone could give me insight to a good build i have £500-£600 to spend and have been looking at this motherboard and processor below. I would be using the PC for CAD and gaming.

Unfortunately we cannot see what's in your Amazon basket, the link you provided does not show the components. I'm not entirely sure what your requirements are, I understand you desire to use the system for CAD; as mentioned however, the software package you're planning to use, I am not certain of it's requirements. Regardless I have attempted to build a mid-to-high end system within your budget; don't worry, I've not utilised the entire £600. If you do want to spend your entire budget, the system can be improved even further. I'm mainly looking at improving the GPU.

Without further ado, here is what I've come up with if you're planning to custom build your system:

If you build your system, you'll get a better system for the price than if you were to buy it pre-made. Again please reply if you would like to use your entire £600 budget and I will improve the system. At the moment, I do believe it will meet your requirements.

Unfortunately computer components cost more over here in the UK, if you were to spend the same amount in America/USD, you'd easily get a high-end machine capable of running almost anything. :(

All the best. :)

Try this, it may not be for you but it will take 2 minutes to look at it.

www.dinopc.com

Then follow these steps
1)Select customise your way (left)
2)select Intel 787/797 Chipset
3) then choose these options:

Customizations:
CPU: Intel Core i5 4460
CPU Cooler: Zalman CNPS10X Optima
Operating System: Microsoft® Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z87-HD3
RAM: 8GB DDR3 1333mhz (1x8GB)
Hard Drive: 1TB S-ATAIII 6.0Gb/s
Optical Drive: 22x DVD±RW DL S-ATA
Graphics card: AMD Radeon R9 270X 2GB
Sound card: Onboard 7.1 Audio
Case: CIT Mesh
PSU: 550W Corsair VS
Warranty: 3 Year SureCare Warranty

For £596.60 this will get you an ok pc. It's not the best, but for a £600 budget it's good.
The pc will take around 2-3 weeks to arrive depending on postage times.
It will come ready and hand made from new parts saving you trouble and lowering accident chance.
It will have a 1 year free parts replacement warranty , a 3 year labour warranty and a 30 week transport warranty.

It will play COD and similar but later on you may wish to add a better graphics card (which is pretty simple) once you have saved up money as it is not the best but keeps the price under £600 and maybe a sound card later for a better experience.

Hope you get a good pc which you want anyway.

The cheapest online desktop/cpu component retailer I can find in the UK which provides quality too is CCL Computing:

http://www.cclonline.com/pc/

They do a variety of desktop builds such as Workstations which is what you're after. My advice is select one, go through the customisation screen yourself and tweak what you want. Then note down the names of all the components and order the components through their website instead. Self assembly.

You should be able to build yourself a £1000 workstation for £500.

Self assembly is hard to go wrong with, especially since their customisation screen only lets items which are compatible wih each other be selected. When assembling its just a case of plugging each part into the motherboard/psu and they all have shaped plugs so you can't mess it up. The hardest think is the case LEDs but your motherboard will come with an instruction diagram showing where they go.
